Sisterhood Retreat

The Alpha Delta chapter of Omega Phi Alpha is going on a sisterhood retreat this weekend. Yes, that is my chapter and sorority sisters. The trip is mandatory, so you know that if girls could find a way to wiggle their way out of this one then they would.

Our retreat is at Tybee Island, I think. We are going to be carpooling all the way there and we are assigned to cars based off the people that we would least rather be around. Fun? We'll see. While we are the beach we are going to be camping out in tents. There are going to be four to a tent and, once again, we will be sleeping with people we do not get along with. That is why this is called a sisterhood retreat. It is supposed to make us all bond and get along.

Don't get me wrong! We all love each other, but some of us would rather sit on an ant hill than sleep in a tent with one of the sisters we don't like. I, for one, don't really care too much who I sleep with. They just better not snore, sleep walk, or kick. I'm easy to please.

This should be a lot of fun. Thirty girls on a beach for the whole weekend, camping out, and singing songs sounds like a blast. I'll tell you one thing. It better be hot! There is nothing worse than going to the beach and it not even sunny. Well, there are some things that are worse, but still, that would pretty much suck all around.

Oh well. I I'm definitely bringing my ipod.

Leadership

I am proud to say that I am Omega Phi Alpha's President elect for next semester. Yes!!! Yes, I say "yes" for reasons other than the fact that I wanted the job. I am just happy that the person running against me didn't win. I'm sure you want to know that back story. Well here you go.

There is this girl in my sorority, who shall not be named, who was running  for president. She is the kind of girl who always makes you feel stupid, not by the words that she says, but by the way she looks at you or doesn't look at you. If you say something that she doesn't agree with she roles her easy and looks at you like you are the dumbest piece of scum who ever walked the earth and you shouldn't deserve the privilege to speak. That's her. No only that, but she is also the head of the biggest clique in the sorority. They all sit in the back of the room and gossip, looking at everyone like they are better than them.

Well, this girl was running for president. I was upset because she has personally belittled me. I was running for the Service position since I had so many new ideas. Service is what my sorority is founded upon so it was going to be a great leadership position. After nominations were closed and I was about to go home, a group of girls came to me and begged me to run for president.

"I'm running for Service already," I told them, but they said that they didn't care. They didn't want the other girl the be in charge and they felt that I would be better fit to run for president.

I was very flattered that they thought I would be the best person for the job. I also knew that they chose me because I could handle the heat of a group of girls hating me for running against their friend.

The whole week I didn't let the other girl, nor her friends, know that I was running against her, so the night of elections you can imagine how shocked they were when I was nominated to run against her. They even laughed at it. I guess they felt that there was no way I would win. They were wrong.

I am the new President of Omega Phi Alpha. The first black president of our chapter. I kind of feel like President Obama. :) Who would have thought i could do it?

So I finished my book...

As you know, I love to read books. I have been reading the Wheel of Time series (WoT). It is the basic good against evil story where the good guy may or may not win. Well, I finished book twelve. This is not a good thing. Books twelve through fourteen are all about the ending of the story. They used to be just one book, all three books compressed into one, but the book would have been 1700 pages and that is way to long. So, now it is split into three books and books thirteen won't be published until November. You can imagine what I am going through.

There is a bright side. Tor publishing company also put out a series of books called the Sword of Truth (SoT). I have started reading the first book to try to pass the time. It is called Wizard's First Rule. While I was reading the first few chapters, I was a little upset. I didn't like the writing style of the author. I knew it was only because I was so used to the style of  Robert Jordan, author of WoT. Now that I have progressed a little ways through the book, the style is rubbing off on me, but it still isn't better than Robert Jordan.

The story scared me the other night. In the story there is a beast called a "gar." It has the body shape of a man, but is about two feet taller. It is covered with hair except where his belly is, it is a white slimy color and almost transparent. The beast doesn't move in a straight line, but walks sideways like a crab. It moves like a bee. When it hears something it charges at it, grabs it, and rips it in half before it eats the animal's or human's guts. It, also, have biting flies that travel with it. The flies latch on to an animal, bites it and sucks its blood. Its the bight of the fly that makes the animal/ human say "ouch" or cry out and then the gar runs at them and kills them. So the gar and the fly works together.

I don't know about you, but this really freak me out. I was afraid to go out that night!

Fast Cars

I love fast cars! I don't like the cars with the nitro boost or the body kit. I like cars that were only made to go fast. Over Spring Break I saw my first Bugatti up close. It was silver and orange and gorgeous! I've seen a video where a bugatti was racing the fastest motorcycle in the world. You can only imagine what happened. That motorcycle looked like it was standing still.

Another car that I like is the BMW 3 series. That are so sporty, yet so classy and business-like.

I was a backseat passenger in one over Spring break and it blew my mind.  I don't think that car is for women. That's a man's car to the core.

Women will not go wrong with Nissan 350z. 

It is sleek, low and curvy; perfect for a woman. That is my dream sports car. And yes, it can go really really fast too.  These are not the only fast cars, but these are my favorites.

Party Planning with an Idiot

 

 I had no idea how hard it would bee to throw a Spring semi-formal. I had no idea how hard it would be to throw a semi-formal wit a person who thinks they have the answer to everything. Yes, today I am going to vent. I am going to let loose all of the feeling I have inside about how frustrating it is to work with an idiot.

Ok, so I am working with my sorority sister on throwing our Omega Phi Alpha Spring Semi-Formal. Everyone is so excited and I planned to make this a huge event. My sorority sister was in charge of finding a venue and I was in charge of food and music. She found a place, told me about it and I was so excited that we could have such a huge room for only $500.

Yesterday I went with her to put down the deposit for the room. We looked around and loved it. Well, low and behold, my sorority sister told me about the wrong room. The room I was convinced we had actually cost $1,000! I was so upset. Why didn't she check this place out before? Now, the party is in 10 days and we have nowhere to host it.

Today I am spending my day searching for a place, any place to hold our formal. I need to get out money back from the place that cost $1,000 and I have to explain to the rest of the sorority what happened without throwing that other idiot under the bus. I am so stressed, but I was born a leader. I will take responsibility and get it done.

The Pollen has Returned

About a week and a half ago I has over come by a sickness. The worst sickness. I didn't get it from someone else and there was no way to prevent this sickness. I got a sinus infection. It was painful, exhausting, and right in the middle of mid-terms. I slept most of my days away and when I woke up my whole body was in pain, from my head to my toes.

The rain came and washed my sickness away. I had already known that my sickness came from the abundance of plant excretions, also known as pollen, in the air. But yes, when the rain came, it washed away the pollen in the air and I was spared for a good bit of time. No more sneezing and coughing, and no more body aches.

Then I woke up this morning. My car was caked with pollen. You know the face a person makes in a scary movie, when they walk in a room and their friend is brutally mutilaited? Well, that was the face that I made. I was terrified! I just knew my worst sickness was upon me again. I looked at weather.com and saw that the rain, the cure, is coming again. Though I hate to splash around in water as I walk around campus, I would rather not be mentally incompitant while trying to pay attention in class everyday. I am saved... unil the next time...

Freezing Season

When was the last time it was snowing in Georgia... in March? The coming of Spring this year was was not met with chirping birds, children playing out doors, and picnics, but with cold winds and cloudy sky. I do not even believe that the temperature has peaked past 60 degrees. This wouldn't have been a problem if all I had to do was go to class and study my miserable life away. No. Last week was Spring Break.

I decided to vacation to Miami to get a little sun. I was tired of the cold weather, here in Georgia, and was looking forward to a nice tan. My boyfriend and I hoped in the care and road tripped through Florida. We stopped in Orlando for a few days and hung out with family and friends, then kept right on to Miami. The first day we were down there... it began to rain. And it rained and rained and rained. The rain brought an annoying chill to the city the next day, so we just went sight-seeing. On the third day, it was still chilly, but we had tickets to the Heat v. Magic basketball game. Might I add that the game was AWESOME! Just saying...

The last day, before we were to head back to Orlando we decided to visit Miami Beach. The sun was out, but the wind was blowing. This was ok to me since I wanted some sun, but didn't want to be hot. Scratch that. It was still too cold and I was very annoyed. The cool thing that did happen on Miami Beach was that I saw a Bugatti for the first time in my life. It was Awesome and So Fine! We also saw Shaq O'neal, so I guess that day went well. In orlando, we ran into Matt Barnes for the Magic. That was pretty cool too. 
 

Even though it was cold, sometimes freezing, I had a great Spring Break. I'm still waiting for the sun to come out so I can get that tan...

Allergy Season

I'm sick... not sick and tired, just sick. The moment I saw pollen on my car I knew, I just knew, my sickness was only days away. So yesterday I woke up and my throat was killing me. I gargled some salt water, took an ibuprofen and a vitamin and went off to class. As I was walking to class I could feel my body wavering.

After class I went to my boyfriend's house. He asked me to lay down, but for some reason I knew if I laid down I would not want to get up. I laid down. Bad idea. I fell asleep and when I woke up to go to my next class, I felt so sick. I mad myself go to class... bad idea. I was miserable. I don't remember anything that happened in class. All I can remember is chuckling at a few jokes that my professor told. It was one of the longest hour and fifteen minutes in my life.

When I got home, I pulled out my heated blanket, turned off the lights, and went to sleep. That was at 3:30 pm. I didn't wake up until today at 8 am. I feel a lot better, still sickly, but better. Thank goodness for the rain! Rain washes the pollen away. Hopefully in a few days I will feel ok because I am headed to Miami!

Reality TV

How can anyone get tired of reality show? MTV, VH1, and BET are notorious for having reality shows. Some may even complain that they show more reality than actual music videos. MTV is short for Music Television is known for it Real World, VH1 is Video House 1 is known for it For the Love of RayJ, and BET is Black Entertainment Television is known for College Hill.

They began with showing popular music videos and up and coming artists. Now they have shows with music in the background, but with random people living in a house together causing havoc. One would think that no one would watch this, but that is far from the truth. The only reason that they are still showing reality shows is because, obviously, people seem to like watching them. Everyone needs a little drama in there lives. Why not let it be someone else and not their own.

I, myself, constantly criticize this form of entertainment, but I sit in front of my television every other night to watch some foolishness that someone is doing that week. Addicted, no. Curious, of course! They end every show with a preview of the nest episode. They show the most interesting situations in these previews only to find out that that situation doesn't even come till the end of that episode. That, my friend, is how they get us to watch a full episode, week after week.

What can you do. You are in a lose lose situation. If you started watching already, there is no turning back, but if you haven't... you will.

The Club for Bad Girls

If you missed out on the Bad Girl's Club this season. You saved yourself from another annoying yet addicting series of obnoxious girls and ignorance. This season the girls substituted class and poise for fornication and disgrace. Here are a few of the characters...

Flo'   
This girl is a Mafia daughter, manly talking, homosexual who spent the majority of her time screaming at the top of her long about how she's gonna beat someone up or kill them. She thought everyone was afraid of her because of her Mafia affiliation. She ended up leaving early, hobbling on crutches because no one liked her.

Natalie

Natalie "runs L.A." apparently. That was her   motto. She was loud, ignorant and always talked about how much money she had. Come to find out she was pretty much a rich man's whore. She only dated people with money and made them buy her things. She left the show early as well because she got in a fight. The other girls hated her so much, they packed her close for her and left them on the curb.

Lexi  
 Now, Lexi was my favorite. She was kind of out of it all of the time, but every now and then she would surprise me by saying something rather intelligent. She said that a lot of people hate her at home because she had a big butt. That was pretty funny. She actually did have a big but. She spent most of her time naked. I hope her parents never watched the show.

Those are only a few of the ladies that graces the Bad Girls Club this season. I wish I could say that you missed a lot, but if you did watch it, I'm sure you were always laughing.
